Who is The Rich Lady?
The Rich Lady is borne of women like you. Perhaps you’re a mother juggling a family with a career or maybe you’re a budding entrepreneur who’s yet to find Mr. Right. It’s possible you’re dipping your toe into the world of finance for the first time or just searching for ways to improve your financial security. You may be lucky enough to have money to invest or you could be busy clearing student debt. Perhaps you’re buying your first home, maybe you’re getting married or it’s possible you’re going through a divorce. There may be unanswered questions or knowledge gaps you’d like to fill, or you could just be looking to share what you know with other like-minded women. Whoever you are, there is a part of you who is an aspiring Rich Lady.
The Rich Lady is a metaphor for financially inquisitive women. She acts as confidante, advisor, financial expert and friend. She resides at TheRichLady.com – a rich resource of financial and lifestyle information written by women, for women. It’s not just a website but a community where women like you can meet, share information, ask questions or browse. Whether you want to find the best credit card deal, turn your business green or decide whether or not to open an ISA, you can find all the information you need here. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always ask.
Who is behind The Rich Lady?
TheRichLady.com® evolved after Agnes Umali and Mary Corrie met through business. On discovering they had a mutual passion to create a unique financial resource tailored specifically to women, they set about developing the concept of TheRichLady.com – a forum where women could share their financial experiences and know-how.
Both Agnes and Mary are entrepreneurs and they, like much of the audience of TheRichLady.com, juggle their family life with work. They both have extensive experience in business and finance and have worked and lived abroad. Through their skills and knowledge – and those of other women like them – they hope that TheRichLady.com will become the primary resource for women looking for the information they need to make sound financial decisions.
Agnes Umali
A self confessed Madonna fan club member, foreign film aficionado, blogger and entrepreneur, Agnes doesn’t fit the ‘boring accountant’ stereotype. Born in the Philippines and raised in Canada, Agnes qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has travelled and lived abroad extensively. Her career spans 20 years with management roles in high profile financial organisations and consultancy work. She is married, has three children and like most women wonders where all the time has gone. TheRichLady.com is her drive to educate and inspire women to be financially confident.
Mary Corrie
Buying and selling cars helped Mary pay her way through a classics degree at Oxford University. She then enjoyed an extensive marketing career at a large multinational company, which took her to Pakistan and Turkey, and culminated in her promotion to Marketing Director on the European Management Team. Since leaving the company, Mary has run an Internet company. Mary’s passion is people and through TheRichLady.com she hopes to create a forum where women can share with other women, the secrets of wealth.
Rich Ladies behind the scene
Charlotte Clarke
After graduating Charlotte Clarke worked for the Economist Newspaper and now has over 12 years experience in publishing under her belt. In that time she fitted in buying her own flat, travelling, getting married, doing a masters in 19th century literature and getting divorced! In 2003 she decided to go for that elusive work-life balance nirvana and moved to Brighton with her partner. Since then she's been working as a consultant for various government departments, getting married (again), having a baby and going back to work part-time.
Maria Pieri
Maria Pieri is Editorial Director for Absolute Publishing Ltd, specialists in travel and sports customer publishing. She is in her thirties (don't ask where in her thirties) and is the mother of one; owns a flat and a car and lives in North London. Her idea of a great break away rarely involves a beach – being more of a culture and soft adventure fan!
Emma Mulqueeny
Emma Mulqueeny runs three businesses and hates being told what to do! At the moment she is working in the Foreign Office in the e-media team, which is very exciting, although she would rather be concentrating more on building up some passive income (she has to think of her house-husband and the manner to which he expects to be kept). She owns a house in Guildford and has two lovely girls (well lovely most of the time).
Emma Donadieu
Advertising copywriter by day and enthusiastic blogger by night, there is not much that Emma hasn’t written about. Despite being quite new to the bewildering world of independent finance, she is proud to have cleared her student debt in under two years. Using her prior experience as a broke ex-student trying to find novel ways to lighten the load of debt, she’ll write about subjects close to the heart of many twenty-something women.
Robin Wilkinson
A brief stint at one of the big four financial firms convinced Robin that money isn't everything, although some is nice! Having got her work-life balance sorted (almost), she now puts her experiences of living on a budget, getting on the property ladder and sudden desire for shoes at your disposal. She sometimes wonders if she should act more grown up than she feels, and if you're ever too old for music festivals and travelling.
