Airport delays 'due to security'
Rich women hit by delays while jetting off on business trips may find tightened security is the cause, it has been claimed.
James Fremantle, industry affairs manager from the Air Transport Users Council, commented that improved safeguarding measures are the reason why many people find their plane does not leave on time.
He said the UK has been under pressure to implement improved and stricter checks at airports and these are now in place, causing a knock-on effect for consumers.
Mr Fremantle added: "We are seeing evidence now about security waiting times getting down and being better for passengers."
He went on to say that there has been a lot of publicity about this issue, but it has "not been as bad as it seems".
According to a survey by the Civil Aviation Authority, which was published earlier this month, 80 per cent of those asked stated they would recommend an airport they had used to a friend.
